Annual Town Forum

Hosted by the Mooroolbark Umbrella Group, this year's Forum featured Emergency Management Victoria Commissioner Andrew Crisp.

Andrew's address provided a helpful insight into his approach to coordinating the response to emergency in Victoria. Andrew acknowledged the work of his predecessor Craig Lapsley in working towards far greater cohesion and cooperation between emergency management agencies since the 2009 fires.

During the evening, five Quiet Achievers received awards, pictured here with YRC Mayor Tony Stevenson, Commissioner Crisp and MUG President, Randall Bourchier.

The 2018 Quiet Achievers are: Team-leading RMIT researchers in community resilience and disaster recovery – Dr Blythe McLennan and Dr Briony Towers, CFA stalwart Jim McKee, CFA Operations Officer Tim Holland and long-time Pembroke Primary School staffer, Leanne Richards.

During the afternoon, EMV's Jessica Meilak spoke to 150 students from Bimbadeen Heights Primary School. The secondary school session was post-poned to early next year.

Many thanks to MUG and partnering sponsors - Mooroolbark Community Bank, GRV Print, YRC, Mooroolbark Community Centre, MAP Mooroolbark, Mooroolbark Lions Club and Living Today in Mooroolbark
