National Day of Thanks 2018

The final Saturday in May each year is gazetted as a National celebration - thanking God and one another for the nation we enjoy! Mayor, Len Cox welcomed the capacity crowd at Foothills Conference Centre.

This year in Yarra Ranges Tim Costello (World Vision Australia's Chief Advocate) was our guest speaker. His address challenged, entertained and gave insight about the central importance of community. From a faith perspective and from a philosophical perspective, Tim underlined that we are wired for community.

As well as enjoying breakfast together, contribute to a hubbub of conversation, we were entertained by a voal ensemble from Oxley College.

The following people from across the Yarra Ranges Shire were honoured for their sustained contribution to our communities: Helen Parsons (Lilydale), Jenny Syme (Yarra Junction), Ken Barrett (Chirnside Park), Ken Glenn (Healesville), Debra Traill (Yarra Glen), Maureen Halit (Millgrove), John and Margaret Lowry (Mooroolbark), and Christine Fyffe (retiring Member for Evelyn).

Thanks again to the combined churches organising committee and to Allan Nelson for the photographs.
